Total number of homeless in the US is almost 750,000 people. 41 percent of those people are members of families with children. The solution is permanent supportive housing. 56 percent of homeless people are living in shelters and transitional housing and 44 percent are unsheltered. Here is a breakdown by state. For those of you have been in urban areas of California, these numbers may shock, but not surprise you. —guest
